Here are some Instagram Stories I made to promote Formula 1 on Channel 4.
Lewis Hamilton loved them and credited them as his inspiration when he won his 73rd Formula 1 Championship… He didn’t but i assume he would if he did ever see them.
Cricetopher is where I store my strange thoughts on Instagram. it’s basically what you’d see if you cracked my head open with a sledgehammer.
Click here to take a look as its quite fun, plus I need more followers (especially you).
Channel 4 purchased Bake Off for a sizeable amount of cash. It then fell to me to make some seriously pun based animations for Instagram and Twitter to highlight what the theme of each week was.
The show was a ratings success which was completely down to my animation skills….or in spite of them.
This is the print and on air I made for Europe: The Final Debate with Jeremy Paxman. The print idea took about 10 seconds to think of. Then I heard they wanted to develop that idea into an animated version to go on air….Thinking of that took longer than 10 seconds.
The idea of 4Newswall was to convey news through animated gifs. I got involved and roughly the next year of my life consisted of reading the news and making 5-8 animations a day.
The whole project was a ton of work but changed my life as it pretty much forced me to learn how to animate on the job – There is no better way to learn new skills than when under pressure…and with Jon Snow sitting in your eye line.
Channel 4 wanted to encourage people to adopt animals* so I made some gifs from the on air promo and wrote some funny copy to promote the show on Twitter and Instagram.
(*I adopted a Badger).
This was an internal C4 project. The channel wanted to find out more about their staff. But as most people are uber paranoid about surveys I thought it’d be best to take the piss and confront the elephant in the room by bringing up subjects people would never want to talk about. Their was also a mental health section hence the ADHD piece.
I was asked to gif all the best bits from the We're the Superhumans Ad for use on Channel 4’s social platforms. It sounds simple but I hate a gif that jumps. It always needs to be a seamless complete loop so take a look and let me know if I failed.
Weirdly around the time my own Dad died I started drawing workmates Dads. The rules were: Tell me a max of 5 things about your Dad and I’ll draw him. I guess I used it as therapy or as a good way to quickly stockpile a load of Dad drawings.
Contact me and I might draw your Dad.
In the first series of Utopia some unlucky fella got his eye scooped out with a spoon. So I thought why not use that eye as the ‘O’ in UTOPIA – that was pretty much the extent of my thinking. Then on the back of that we came up with a face swapping data stealing social experience. Watch the showreel as it explains it miles better than me.
A strange sound bite from a strange man. I assume this is what he was talking about???
4creative wanted to send out a Christmas card and coming off the back of the ‘We are the Superhumans’ campaign I thought a sign language card would be nice. Then I realised it’s a bloody nightmare animating hands at the best of times let alone when they actually have to say something.
Channel 4 aired an animated version of We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. It was great but I’m convinced that Bear would have mauled all those kids in a heartbeat - So I made an alternate ident.
I told you this was random...
I got involved with this project and was asked to design the logo lockup and create some social and print assets. I did and this is what they were.
All 4 wanted to encourage people to stuff their eyeballs on their box sets. Anytime i can animate some of Noel Fieldings weirdness I'm happy.
Channel 4’s on demand service All 4 is well nice or a bit of a stalker. It sends every user a little birthday present each year.
These animations are the first step to receiving your gift – Who wouldn’t open a email asking you to blow someone? It has a 33% open rate which is really good apparently and was seen by around 3million people allegedly.
This was a strange quiz I invented for Celebrity Bake off. It a was a bit like Catchphrase with Hollywood A-listers. Some were easy and some were tricky, either way it was fun for all and social gold or at least social bronze.
4Talent wanted some social content promoting Channel 4’s work experience options. A cat playing a keyboard in space seemed like a good idea…
Here are some Great British Bake Off pun-tastic song titles to promote GBBO for Channel 4 across various social platforms. I apologise in advance for how bad some of the puns are.
